Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary: This national park is considered as the ornithologist’s paradise. As the name suggests this sanctuary is home to a large number of species of birds as the teals, eagles, vultures, herons, wild ducks, migratory birds and water fowls.

Thattekad Bird Sanctuary: This sanctuary is shaped between the twigs of the Periyar River. The rivers here are wealthy in the fish life. One can here see the rare birds such as the rose billed roller, wood pecker, egret, heron, Ceylon frog mouth and jungle myna etc. this bird sanctuary is a popular tourist spot among the wildlife in Kerala.
