Kerala is a state which is situated in the south
of India. As this state is known as the Gods own country, this state is
home to number of the special and rare species of the marine life,
animals and birds. The wildlife in Kerala attracts the tourist from all
over the world. The national parks and sanctuaries of this state give a
very big opportunity to the travelers to see the wildlife in a very
natural way.
Therefore the adventure lovers find this place
more interesting. This state is home to some of the animals like lions,
tigers, deer, monkeys, civet cats, elephants, leopards, nilgiri Tahr
and squirrel etc. one can here also see the turtles, crocodiles and
fish. Some of the wildlife in Kerala are:
Eravikulam National Park: This national park was
placed to protect the Nilgiri Tahr. This national park is located in
the district of Idukki. This national park covers an area of about 95
sq. km. this park is home to a large number of different species of
animals and birds. This place is quite f
amous among the wildlife in
Kerala. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary: This national park is
considered as the ornithologist’s paradise. As the name suggests this
sanctuary is home to a large number of species of birds as the teals,
eagles, vultures, herons, wild ducks, migratory birds and water fowls.
Periyar National Park: This national park is known
as a famous tiger reserve. Here one can also see the languor, lion
tailed macaque, lions and tigers etc. This national park is very much
popular.
Silent Valley National Park: This national park is
located in the Western Ghats in the hills of Kundai. One can here find
the rare herbs and plants for the therapy of Ayurvedic. One will really
have a fun while visiting this national park.
Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary: This national park is a popular reserve in
the district of Idukki. This national park covers an area of 90 sq km.
this park is home to the different species of the animals and birds
such as eagles, squirrel, cobras, macaques, deer’s and vipers etc.
Thattekad Bird Sanctuary: This sanctuary is shaped
between the twigs of the Periyar River. The rivers here are wealthy in
the fish life. One can here see the rare birds such as the rose billed
roller, wood pecker, egret, heron, Ceylon frog mouth and jungle myna
etc. this bird sanctuary is a popular tourist spot among the wildlife
in Kerala.
